Questions

Renewing Subscriptions

  • How do I renew my subscription?

To renew your subscription, tap on the help (?) button or the button with your name/license number at the bottom of the Log Sheet list screen. One of the options will be to renew your subscription.

Logbook Checker Hours

  • Why does Logbook Checker allow me to go over hours in a 24hr period?

This is the most frequent query we have from drivers using the app. The rules for counting, currently legislated in all states, is that an officer needs to count forward from the relevant break for the period. Therefore, if they are counting hours in a 24-hour period, they would have to count forward from a long break (at least 7 hours long for Solo Hours). This is not legal advice; but rather our reading of the law.

That is the way LBC counts by default. It can be changed by going to your driver information and switching 'old counting rules' to ON (tap on trucks/drivers, tap on driver list and select your name from the list). Some officers of the law are not up with the latest rules; however, if you were fined in spite of these laws, you should be able to get your fine overturned by sending it to the relevant authority.

There are a number of drivers that disagree with the above information. We encourage them to change to ‘old counting’ rather than argue whether the above is correct or not. However, other drivers have done the same as we have done and checked with relevant authorities to see whether the above is correct and happily run this way. We have had a driver fined for this issue and let it go to court. He then sent the relevant authority in SA an email, and the case was dropped.

The other misconception going around is that because of the above rule, the authorities only count forward from one major break until they reach the end of the next (which may be less than 24 hours late). The authorities will start at the end of a major break but will count work done for the full 24-hour period. If they find that you have done over 14 hours (or 12 hours, on standard hours) they will fine you when counting forward from a major break. LBC will breach if this happens.

Checking Your Compliance

  • Why do I get a major breach when I add a log entry with a start time for when I started work for the day and end time for when I finished for the day?

In order for Logbook Checker to check your compliance for minor rest breaks during the day, you will need to enter each driving stint for the day as a separate log entry (I.e., started driving at 6 AM until 10:15 AM, started again at 11 AM and drove until 2:30 PM, started again at 3:45 PM and drove until 7:15 PM). Logbook Checker requires separate log entries.

Entering Rest Breaks

  • How do I enter my rest breaks?

There is no need to enter rest breaks – Logbook Checker will automatically calculate these as the time between each individual work log entry.

Changing From Solo to 2up

  • How do I change from solo to 2up and vice versa?

Two-up driving is changed by individual log entries, as per following screenshot rather than a Log Sheet. This is because you can start your Log Sheet driving solo and then change to 2up or vice versa.

Logbook Checker will require both your driving entries and those of your 2up partner entered (check the ‘driven by co-driver’ as per screenshot for log entries for your 2up partner) as it uses this information to check for compliance with stationary rest break (as opposed to non-stationary rest breaks, where you are resting whilst your 2up partner is driving).

Adding Driver Signature

  • How do I add my driver signature?

You will need to have a photo or image of your driver signature in your photos on your device. If you go to your user details (as per the previous question) and then tap next to the ‘Driver Signature’ label if you are using an Apple device, or tap on the image button at bottom of the screen for Android.

Restoring/Transferring Data – New Devices

  • Can you transfer your data to a new device?

You can currently transfer your data from one Apple device to another using iCloud or Android devices using Google Drive. There is currently no option to transfer from Apple devices to Android and vice versa because they store their data differently. We are currently looking to expand this in the future.

To backup your data from your old device, see the previous question.

To restore your data to your new device just tap on ‘Restore Diary from iCloud’ (for Apple devices) or ‘Restore Diary from Google Drive’ (for Android) when you first start the app. As long as you are using the same account (for iCloud or Google Drive) your backup of your diary from your other device should appear in the list – just tap on this, hit ‘Restore’ and ‘Done’, and all of your diary information should appear on your new device.
